Here are some of Zigatango's videos from over the years. If you prefer you can watch them on our YouTube channel.
Fairbridge Festival
Performed at Fairbridge Festival 2011 featuring Julia Watson on violin. Duncan Gardiner also joined Zigatango on guitar.
Libertango
This is one of Astor Piazzolla's most famous pieces. Here we tried to make a bit of a music video recording the performance in some old abandoned silos in Albany on our south west tour.
Two Guitars
Here is one of our gypsy pieces arranged based on the Lakatos version of the traditional song. This was performed at Fairbridge Festival in 2008
Vuelvo sl sur (interlude from Verano Porteno) - both Piazzolla
Performed at the Earthdance Festival in 2007. Sadly this was the last time this festival ran for several years due to bad weather and difficulties with publicity, and we ended up with many other bands volunteering our performance at this event. We did however capture this performance of Vuelvo which despite the poor upload quality, shows a song we reworked into a faster tempo with an interlude from another piazzolla piece half way through.
The Lark
If you haven't heard Geoffrey play this extraordinary piece of music then here it is! The Lark is a song which requires the violinist to elicit bird calls from the instrument. We have fun with this piece by asking the audience which animal this song depicts. Some of the responses (elephant, mouse, kangaroo, mosquito, and finally we get to of course a bird)
Hava Nagila
This is a Hebrew folk song which always seems to get the crowd going whenever we play it. Performed by Siobhan Finn on the viola, this version starts slow and builds up to a fiery tempo.
This version was performed at our Fly By Night show in July 2009 where the crowd danced away. The vibe was awesome, and thankyou to everyone who was part of this memorable evening.
Bohemian Rhapsody
This is the one we play near the end usually to give everyone something completely different. This performance was at the closing gig of the Cygnet Folk Festival where we closed the show with this rendition of the famous piece by popular band Queen (Freddie Mercury).
Magic and Juggling
Many gigs including local festivals and shows we had our juggler Alex on board who presented some incredible juggling and magic tricks. We turned this into a routine similar to our Telethon audition routine which the crowd really got into.
Fire Dance
Another amazing gypsy piece by Roby Lakatos. This rendition is closely based on the Lakatos version and was performed at the Fly By Night in April 2009. We love this piece as it features each instrument and ends up in a frenzy.
