Fairbridge Festival
Fairbridge Festival has special significance for Zigatango. Not only is it the place that the band were offered their first festival gig, but it is also the place where Richard and Geoffrey met soon to be band member Justin Story. The three began jamming and soon formed Zigatango in 2006.
Zigatango have performed at three Fairbridge Festivals in 2007, 2008 and 2011.
Our first year was one of our first main bookings, and we performed some kids gigs on the lawn and also at the wine bar. We were lucky to have Alex Duhig juggling with us who entertained the crowd with his extraordinary juggling.
Here is a video from the 2007 Festival featuring some of the performances we did including some of Alex's juggling and magic tricks.
2008 Festival
In 2008 Zigatango were invited back to put on more crazy tunes. We stepped up the tempo with additional group member Greg Coles (double bass) and played a number of new classics including the popular version of Bohemian Rhapsody.
Here are two video's of the 2008 Festival, the first featuring the talented young singer Max Mackenzie singing Streets of London. He really got the crowd going with his audience participation clapping.
This second song is a rendition of Two Guitars, a traditional piece based on the Roby Lakatos version.
